A client from Pointe-Claire, QC called us to let us know of his concerns about his crawl space. He noticed that moisture was forming on the support beams in his crawlspace and that the beams were sagging.
The experienced specialist Mike Costello went to the client’s house and advised him to install SmartJacks to support the sagging joists as well as to encapsulate his crawl space with a Cleanspace membrane, in order to prevent the humidity problem from persisting.
The customer is now very satisfied with the work of the team and is very reassured.
Having a house by the water is nice. But when water and water vapors affect the humidity of the house, it is less pleasant. For this reason, this owner has contacted us so we can meet him with one of our certified specialists in basement waterproofing and crawl space encapsulation. So we sent Jerry who has been working with us for a long time. Jerry noticed that there was no damage and that it would be enough to encapsulate this void.
Our foreman Jonathan and his team began by removing all the debris from the crawlspace. Then, they installed a drainage mat and encapsulated the vacuum with the CleanSpace vapors barrier membrane. This product is the most effective on the market. It is composed of 7 layers and is therefore extremely resistant. An antibacterial additive is injected in to block the growth of mold. This product is specially designed for the basement environment and we are very proud of it. This client can now use the crawl space for useful purposes.
Mr. Trepanier from Chertsey, Quebec, contacted us seeking a full crawl space repair. Following a free inspection, our specialist, Alexandrine, recommended a solution involving encapsulation, a new sump pump system, a dehumidifier, and the installation of a new exterior drainage system. Our dedicated team executed the plan by installing the CleanSpace® Crawl Space Drainage Matting System, SmartSump™ Crawl Space Sump Pump system, CleanSpace® Vapor Barrier, SaniDry™ Dehumidifier, and IceGuard® and LawnScape Outlet to ensure efficient water management. With the expertise of Basement Systems Quebec, our client can now enjoy peace of mind, free from concerns about a flooded crawl space.
PROBLEM
Our client Eveline was facing serious issues within her crawlspace, leading to significant structural damage. Water infiltrations from the ground were compromising the integrity of support beams and causing mold growth. The floor was sagging, insinuating for a structural problem. The solution consisted of two crucial steps: Encapsulating the crawl space to eliminate harmful moisture and installing crawlspace jacks to level the sagging floor.
SOLUTION
First, we completed the crawlspace encapsulation using the CleanSpace system. This involves covering the floor with a drainage membrane and a vapor barrier above. The drainage membrane has a dimpled surface that helps channel infiltrated water towards the drainage or sump pump. The vapor barrier prevents the evaporation of infiltrated water, eliminating excess humidity.
Next, we put in place our revolutionary SuperSump sump pump system. This system includes a 1/3 HP Zoeller pump, a lid, a tight-sealing drain, and a WaterWatch alarm to prevent potential disasters. To ensure proper thermal insulation of the crawlspace walls, we installed SilverGlo wall insulation panels.
We then installed three SmartJack beams on a precase concrete base. It's important to note that SmartJack beams are made of galvanized steel, eliminating the risk of rust.
The problem:
This Bois-des-Filion customer contacted us so that we could solve his mold problem in his crawl space. This is caused by the high humidity in it. In addition, there was a lot of wood which was rotten and it was necessary to act quickly so that the problem does not get worst.
The solution :
One of our certified specialists visited his crawl space and suggested that we need to first remove the mold that was present with our Mold X product. Subsequently, our foreman installed a drainage membrane to facilitate the flow of water.
Following this, we encapsulated this crawl space with our CleanSpace membrane, this membrane mainly serves to prevent water vapor from coming out of the ground and going up to the upper floors. When everything was finished and to maximize the efficiency of the CleanSpace system, our specialist installed our product Sedona SandiDry, which is a high performance dehumidifier. Its goal is to dry out your crawl space as much as possible and reduce the humidity level as much as possible.
Since our intervention, this client from Bois-des-Filion now benefits from a dry crawl space without mold.
