Encapsulating a Damp Crawl Space in York, ME

TC Hafford Basement Systems helped homeowners in York, ME with their damp, dirt floor crawl space. They knew moisture could cause mold, or wood rot on their support beams and floor joists. We used our two-step encapsulation system to protect the crawl space. First we install drainage matting, which helps control the ground water. Then we add our CleanSpace liner, a vapor barrier that seals out moisture. CleanSpace is made with an inorganic material that does not allow mold to grow. The homeowners have a fresh, clean crawl space that will protect their home and major systems for years to come!

Crawl Space Encapsulation with Vapor Barrier in York, Maine

Homeowners in York, Maine contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their crawl space. The crawl space was damp with dirt floors, and the owners were also experiencing sagging floors above the crawl space, which is an indicator that moisture is causing the support beams to fail. We encapsulated the crawl space with our two-step process that involves a layer of drainage matting as well as our CleanSpace vapor barrier liner. Spray Foam insulation was installed along the rim joists to seal the encapsulation and provide improved energy efficiency. Not pictured, we installed 6 SmartJacks which are zinc coated steel posts to immediately lift and level the floors above. SmartJacks will never rust or rot, providing unparalleled support for the home.

Crawl Space Vapor Barrier Installation in Wells, Maine

Homeowners in Wells, Maine were searching for more information about vapor barriers for their crawl space and contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for help. Their crawl space had an old plastic liner on the ground that was not sealed off, so moisture was still easily entering the space. The fiberglass insulation was failing, falling away from the ceiling, typically due to the heaviness from absorbing moisture. After cleaning out the old insulation and debris, we encapsulated the crawl space with drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier liner. CleanSpace is a 20-mil liner that comes with a 25 year warranty against rips and tears, keeping water out of the crawl space. We also installed Spray Foam insulation along the perimeter rim joists, immediately improving the energy efficiency of the home. Spray Foam is also water and mold resistant, so it won't be damaged and fail like the fiberglass insulation did.
