This Bangor, Maine crawl space had high humidity and moisture problems. To help keep the sale of the home on track, we repaired the crawl space by installing our two-step encapsulation system, as well as a dehumidifier and support posts. We encapsulated the crawl space with drainage matting and our CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal out moisture. The installation of a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier keeps the humidity at a healthy level, while also filtering allergens from the air. We also added SmartJacks posts to keep the properly home supported.

This Castine, ME, homeowner recently moved into their new home with the plan to retire there and enjoy their free time. Immediately the homeowner noticed the humidity was higher than it should be in the crawl space. Concerned about mold growth and rot and not wanting the issue to get worse, they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. System Design Specialist Craig Ziegenbein worked with the homeowner, and together they designed an encapsulation system that would protect the home against moisture and humidity.

This home was originally built in 1847 and has held up very well through the years but needed some help to be better than it ever has. To encapsulate the area and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting goes down first and covers the floor of the crawl space. Drainage Matting is a durable plastic mat with large dimples that elevates the CleanSpace once installed and helps to channel water to the low spot where a sump can be installed if needed. CleanSpace is a durable, inorganic vapor barrier that is attached to the walls with SprayFoam and keeps moisture and small critters out of the crawl space. Keeping moisture out and encapsulating the area prevents humidity from causing issues for the homeowner, such as mold growth and wood rot. A Sump Liner was installed in the low spot; that way, a sump pump can be easily installed in the future if the homeowner needs it without having to disrupt the encapsulation system. The homeowner is now protected against mold and can use their crawl space for a storage area without the concern of their belongings being damaged.

We helped homeowners in Bucksport, Maine with their dirt floor crawl space that was allowing water to easily seep in. Over time, moisture in a crawl space causes musty odors, mold, and wood rot, putting your home and indoor air quality at risk. We encapsulated this crawl space with CleanSpace vapor barrier, sealing water out. A SmartSump pumps groundwater away from the home through an exterior buried discharge line. The owners opted to go with the UltraSump batter backup pump to ensure the system runs in all conditions, even when the home loses power. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was also installed. Not only does it control the humidity to a healthy level, it also has a MERV 8 filter that removes allergens such as mold spores. 

We helped homeowners in Brewer, Maine who wanted to insulate their cold crawl space. First we installed drainage matting and CleanSpace vapor barrier to help seal out moisture and control the groundwater. Spray Foam insulation was then applied on the walls and along the rim joists. Spray Foam expands when it is applied, creating an air tight seal that can keep cold air out, while also being water and mold resistant. Spray Foam is a great long term option for below grade insulation!
