Shingle and Flat Roofing Install in Litchfield, Connecticut

The Brown Roofing team installed flat and shingle roofing on this home in Litchfield. Although this roof did originally have both shingle and flat roofing, our crew replaced some shingled areas with flat roofing instead. This change can be seen in the above photos. A shingled flat roof is not ideal, because water takes a longer time to move off of a flat roof than it does on a sloped roof. For this reason, the shingles can become damaged over time. This is why our crew installed Polyglass Elastoflex flat roofing to this area of the roof in place of the original shingles. As for the sloped sections of this roof, this customer chose the color Shadow Brown for their new IKO Dynasty shingles.

Complete roof replacement on this home in Woodbury, CT

This homeowner was sick of their old roof and wanted a refreshed look on their home. They also called us out to install Rain Drop Gutter Guard on all of their gutters. Aside from old age, their roof had mostly cosmetic damage like algae streaking and faded shingle color, but if the algae is left long enough then it can actually cause mold to grow in the attic and spread into the home. Fortunately for this homeowner, we caught it early and no mold had grown.

The first step we take when installing a new roof is to rip up all the old shingles and inspect the existing decking layer. A majority of the plywood on this home was in good shape and could be used again but some pieces by the chimney and along the pitch change needed to be replaced. Once that was done we moved on to the next stage which was laying down all the underlayments. This layer of materials helps insulate, waterproof, and protect the decking layer. For this, we use our Sealeron Ice and Water, our synthetic underlayment and our Sealeron Deck Tape.

Once these were installed we could install the shingles and flashings. When installing shingles we always start at the bottom edge of the roof and make our way up to ensure that they are layered correctly. As we make our way up the roof we flash around any penetrations in the roof with the correct corresponding material. Once this was done the roof was complete and we then moved on to installing the Rain Drop Gutter Guard. This is a super easy process and can be installed extremely quickly. By the end of the day, this homeowner was ecstatic to have a brand new beautiful roof installed on their home along with gutter guards that will not just protect the gutters but also keep them clog-free.
