There are many cities like Saint-Zotique along lakes or streams. Although it is very pleasant during hot summers, it also means that the soils bordering these streams are often full of water. Thus, homes that rest on these floors may be infiltrated with water. This was the case of one of our clients in Saint-Zotique. The water that seeped into his crawl space harmed all this space and the air of the house. To solve this problem, we carried out a project of encapsulation and waterproofing to make this environment waterproof and impermeable. Problem:

Or client Dennis had a crawl space that he used only for occasional storage. He didn't think this space could affect the rest of his house until he started to see water seeping.

Solution:

The solution was simple but necessary. A SmartSump pump, a CleanSpace product, an IceGuard and a LawnScape outlet.

The SmartSump has a unique sump pump cover design, so water from a plumbing leak fills an alarm pocket on the lid first; sounding a WaterWatch alarm that will let you know there is a plumbing leak

The CleanSpace membrane is a very resistant vapor barrier. It blocks moisture and contains an antibacterial that prevents mold growth.

The client can now protect his investment and is no longer worried about any spring thaw.

The foundations of this crawl space at Wentworth were threatened by moisture that damaged organic foundations such as pillars and wooden beams. The wet spaces are a favorable place for the proliferation of molds and bacteria.

To solve the problem, we installed galvanized steel support pillars and joists that are not affected by moisture and bacteria. They stabilize the house structure once and for all.

PROBLEM

 SOLUTION

 Systèmes Sous-sol Québec’s team suggested a solution that guaranteed a dry space all year round. A solution including 3 products; TerraBlock insulation, SmartDrain and CleanSpace encapsulation product.

Our TerraBlock insulation provides a puncture-resistant vapor barrier on all surfaces it covers - one that will not be damaged by water or support the growth of mold, rot, and mildew.

As for the SmartDrain, it is a floor drain installed at the lowest point of the crawl space to intercept water infiltration caused by plumbing leaks.
