In East Broughton, Quebec, a homeowner faced the challenge of dealing with rotting joists caused by excessive moisture in the crawl space. As you can see in the before photo, the damage was evident, and the need for a solution was pressing. We addressed this issue by installing our CleanSpace Drainage Matting, CleanSpace Vapor Barrier, and SilverGlo Pannels. Our CleanSpace system effectively sealed the space to prevent excess moisture from entering the crawl space, while SilverGlo insulated and added a radiant heat barrier. The after photo showcases a transformed crawl space, ensuring a dry, secure foundation, free from moisture and its harmful effects.
A homeowner in Courcelles, Quebec, reported excess humidity levels in their crawl space. Upon inspection, our specialist identified clear indicators of excessive moisture, including visible efflorescence on the foundation walls which is a sign of water migration through the walls.
To remediate the issue, we put in place the CleanSpace encapsulation system. This solution includes two primary components: A drainage matting that facilitates water flow toward an appropriate discharge system, and a high-performance vapor barrier engineered to isolate the crawl space from moisture. Together, these elements effectively regulate humidity levels, stop water infiltration, and prevent moisture evaporation from the soil beneath the structure.
The intervention has resulted in a controlled and safe crawl space environment, mitigating risks of structural degradation, mold growth, and poor indoor air quality. The space is now dry, sealed, and contributes to the long-term durability of the residence.
A client owning a house in Tring-Jonction, Quebec, was concerned about their crawl space. The humidity was becoming problematic, and the client wanted to address the issue before it worsened. During our inspection, our specialist noticed signs of humidity including the presence of efflorescence, which clearly indicated excess moisture. To resolve the issue, we installed the CleanSpace encapsulation system, which includes a drainage membrane and a high-performance vapor barrier. These two components work together to control humidity, prevent water infiltration, and stop moisture from evaporating from the soil. The crawl space is now fully protected, dry, and secure, ensuring the structural integrity of the home is preserved.
A client in Vallee-Jonction, Quebec had concerns regarding their crawl space, which was experiencing humidity and unpleasant odors. Upon inspection, our specialist identified signs of compromised structural integrity, including presence of mold spores, which is a clear sign of excessive moisture levels within the crawl space.
To resolve the problem, we implemented the CleanSpace encapsulation system, which involved the installation of drainage matting and a high-performance vapor barrier. These two components work synergistically to regulate humidity levels, prevent the infiltration of water, and inhibit the evaporation of moisture from the soil. As a result, the crawl space is now fully encapsulated, dry, and secure, safeguarding the structural integrity of the home.
PROBLEM
Lots of water infiltration within a crawlspace, which promoted mold growth. Additionally, the floor in his house was sloping, indicating sagging issues. Entering into the crawlspace, our specialist noticed the unpleasant odor caused by excess moisture and mold. He explained that this critical condition in the crawlspace had weakened the rim joist, which consequently caused the floor to sag. The solution lies in stabilizing the floor and encapsulating the crawlspace, which will eliminate harmful moisture. Action must be taken as soon as possible to prevent further structural damage that could even affect the foundation of the house.
SOLUTION
Encapsulation of the crawlspace using the CleanSpace system. This involves covering the floor with two complementary membranes:
- The drainage membrane, equipped with a dimpled surface that helps transport infiltrated water to the drainage or sump pump.
- The vapor barrier that prevents the evaporation of infiltrated water, thus eliminating excessive moisture. It also includes an antimicrobial additive to prevent mold from growing.
Regarding floor stabilization, implementing the SmartJack system. In this case, it involved installing five galvanized steel columns. These columns are adjustable depending on the dimension of the crawl space in question. Moreover, galvanized steel is corrosion-resistant, ensuring the durability of this system. Furthermore, the installation of the columns is quick, with minimal disruption to the house.
