Referred to as the “Ledge Room” by the homeowner, this BoothBay Harbor, ME, basement was dealing with water leaking in when it rains and grew concerned about mold and damage to their finished walls. The ledge in the basement was the main root of the issue, and with the homeowner wanting to retire into the home, they didn’t want to waste any time solving the problem. The homeowner booked a free estimate with TC Hafford Basement Systems and worked with System Design Specialist Michael Madore to design a system that would waterproof their basement and protect the home from costly repairs.
Water needs to go somewhere that can take it out of the basement, so a SuperSump was installed that uses a Zoeller sump to collect water and push it away from the home through an Exterior Buried Discharge line. CleanSpace Wall System was installed on the ledge and walls to act as a vapor barrier and channel water to the new WaterGuard system that was installed. WaterGuard collects water and channels it to the SuperSump, keeping water off the basement floor. SprayFoam was installed to insulate the basement and seal the CleanSpace to the wall. A SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed in the basement to keep humidity at a safe level, preventing musty odors and mold growth. Now the homeowner is happy knowing their basement is dry, more energy efficient, and healthier. They can use their basement as they please without the risk of their belongings being damaged or ruined by mold.
Newcastle, ME homeowner contacted TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate to install spray foam in their 1850's basement and crawlspace. System Design Specialist Michael M. met with the homeowner to create a plan that would address each space.
In the basement, we poured a slab to upgrade the space from the old dirt floors. Slab WaterGuard was added around the perimeter of the basement to channel water and moisture to the new TripleSafe sump pump. CleanSpace Wall System was installed on the walls, along with SprayFoam Insulation on the rim joists and walls. Completing the space is a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
For the crawlspace, we installed CleanSpace with drainage matting, as well as SprayFoam Insulation.
Both spaces are now dry and protected from future water issues!
A previous Basement Systems customer recently purchased this Bremen, ME, home, and once they moved in and saw their basement, they knew they wanted to protect their home, so they called TC Hafford Basement Systems for a free estimate. Dr. Energy Saver System Design Specialist Nima Farshid met with the homeowner and worked with them to design a system that would waterproof the basement and create a more energy-efficient space while they were at it.
Step One: Waterproofing
The homeowner wanted the basement to be dry all of the time, so they did not want to cut any corners. WaterGuard was installed around the perimeter of the basement to collect and channel water. In high-traffic areas such as entrances and the oil tank, TrenchDrain was installed and connected to the WaterGuard. The water has to go somewhere, so the homeowner chose a SuperSump for the job. The SuperSump takes the water and pumps it through an Exterior Buried Discharge line, which gets the water far away from the home. To prevent ice buildup and keep the system running at 100% during the winter months, IceGuard was installed on the Discharge line. CleanSpace Wall System was installed along the walls and attached to the WaterGuard. CleanSpace Wall System acts as a vapor barrier and channels any moisture coming in from the cinderblock wall to the WaterGuard. Finishing out the waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry XP Dehumidifier to keep the humidity in the basement at a safe level. The Sani Dry XP drains directly to the SuperSump, so the homeowner never has to worry about emptying a bucket of water, and their basement will always be protected against high moisture.
Step Two: Creating a More Energy-Efficient Space
It’s no secret that heating and cooling a home can be expensive. Wanting to save money on their energy bill and create a more comfortable home, the homeowner opted for SprayFoam insulation. Closed-cell SprayFoam was installed along the basement walls to trap in heat during the winter and prevent the homeowner from having to constantly adjust their thermostat throughout the day.
Now the homeowner not only has a more comfortable home, but their new home is protected against water and moisture. Mold will be prevented from growing, keeping their family healthy, and their basement is set up to be used however the homeowner would like, without the risk of their belongings being damaged.
Before TC Hafford Basement Systems arrived, the homeowner in Thomaston, Maine, was facing significant structural and water issues in their basement. Water was consistently entering the basement, even on dry days. This was not just an inconvenience but a growing concern for the homeowner, as the structural integrity of the foundation and the persistent water problem needed immediate attention.
After our comprehensive assessment, we installed a WaterGuard system to collect and redirect water before it could enter the basement. A trench drain was added for maximum water capture, and the SuperSump Plus was installed to efficiently pump water away from the home. To further safeguard the basement, we applied the CleanSpace wall system, as well as Dr. Energy Saver spray foam insulation, which would aid preventing moisture from penetrating the foundation walls. IceGuard was integrated into the system to protect the sump pump discharge lines during freezing conditions. The homeowner was left extremely satisfied with a dry and secure basement, and peace of mind that their foundation was protected for the future.
Homeowners from Stetson, ME reached out to TC Hafford Basement Systems for help with their challenging basement. The basement had ledge flooring and water was constantly seeping in. System Design Specialist Mark S. gave a free estimate for the needed repairs to waterproof the basement.
To fully encapsulate the area and keep moisture and critters out, CleanSpace with Drainage Matting was installed. Drainage Matting is a durable barrier with dimples to help channel water and elevate the CleanSpace, keeping it clean. SprayFoam was installed on the walls to insulate the area, keeping cold air out during the winter, making the space more comfortable, and saving the homeowner money on their energy bill. Finishing out the full waterproofing system was the installation of a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier.
