Using a sealant to coat the inside basement walls in hoping that it will stop wall cracks from leaking may work for some time but will eventually need a more permanent wall crack repair, like the one we will installed in this St. Peters home. Typically, floor cracks are the last part of the basement to leak; but with a crack this size, waterproofing it before finishing a basement is important.  Also, for the size of this St. Peters, Missouri basement, we installed another sump pump in the opposite corner from the one put in at the time of construction.

WaterGuard was installed as part of the waterproofing system. WaterGuard is installed underneath the concrete floors, along the walls (as shown in the picture.) It's situated on top of the concrete footing of the basement so it won't be clogged by mud as it collects water from the foundation walls and floors and drains it away to the sump pump for removal.
