The homeowner reached out to Klaus Larsen Roofing after discovering water stains on their bedroom ceiling, a clear sign of a roof leak. Their roof, which was about 25 years old, was beginning to show signs of wear, and they were understandably concerned about further water damage. Additionally, they needed new gutters installed on the front of their home, along with downspouts on both the front and back to improve water drainage. With attic access available, we set out to inspect the source of the leak and offer a comprehensive solution to both the roof and gutter concerns.
With a roof nearing the end of its lifespan at 25 years and a leak causing water stains on the bedroom ceiling, a Powell, OH homeowner turned to Klaus Larsen Roofing for a reliable solution. We began by inspecting the attic and addressing water damage, replacing all damaged sheathing with new 7/16 OSB at $80 per sheet, ensuring a solid foundation for the new roof. The wood roof deck was re-secured with ring-shank plywood nails for added stability. To prevent future leaks, we installed two rows of Sealoron XT Ice & Water Barrier—extending six feet from all eaves and protecting critical areas such as valleys, chimneys, skylights, and dormers. We also applied 4" Sealoron XT tape to all plywood joints and covered the remaining decking with Velora 1 Synthetic Underlayment, a durable, water-repelling material engineered to last.
To finish the job, we installed white F-8 Aluminum drip edge flashing along all eaves, sealed with 4" modified Bitumen tape to prevent ice dam backups. This comprehensive installation not only protects the home from future leaks but also comes with the Klaus Roofing System's 50-year transferable workmanship warranty, giving the homeowner long-lasting peace of mind. The result is a durable, weatherproof roof designed to withstand Powell’s unpredictable weather while enhancing the value and safety of the home.
A homeowner in Columbus, OH, reached out for a full roof replacement after noticing missing and lifting shingles on his 20-year-old asphalt 3-tab roof. With his insurance company, Allstate, covering part of the cost, he wanted a high-quality roofing system that would provide long-term durability and protection. To ensure a seamless process, he arranged to have the driveway cleared on the installation day, allowing materials and the dump trailer to be placed in front of the garage as long as they were removed by the end of the day.
Following the Klaus Roofing Way, we installed a Price Assurance Roofing System, ensuring a dedicated project manager was on-site during installation to address any questions or concerns. We replaced any damaged plywood decking with new 7/16" OSB plywood at a set cost per sheet, adjusting the final price based on the number of sheets used. For enhanced protection, we applied Sealoron XT Ice & Water Barrier at all critical points, including 6 feet from eaves wrapped onto the fascia, 18 inches on either side of valleys, at all side walls, and around all roof penetrations. We also sealed all plywood joints with 4” self-adhering Sealoron XT deck tape. Any areas not covered by the ice and water membrane were protected with KRS Velora 1 Synthetic Underlayment.
To complete the project with a professional and durable finish, we installed white Premium F8 painted aluminum drip edge, sealed to the ice and water membrane with 4" modified bitumen tape. Along all rake edges, we installed white C-4 ½ aluminum rake metal, and for extra wind protection, purpose-made Starter Shingles were placed along the entire outside perimeter of the roof. With this comprehensive system in place, the homeowner now has a secure, weather-resistant roof built to last for years to come.
